How Can Time Management Be Helpful In Your Business?

There is really no such thing as time management.  We can not really manage time, but we can manage ourselves.  That is the big challenge in our lives today.  In our modern age of technology, we are dealing with many challenges that we have not had to deal with before.  We are living in an over-communicated society with new information constantly coming in.
We are completely drowning in communication with the internet, cell phones and other types of technology.  Our heads are swimming with communication, distractions and interruptions.  We have to realize that we can not learn everything, we can not do everything and we can not look at everything.  We need to become very selective in what we try to do with our valuable time.
Time management comes down to setting conditions in your life that make it possible for you to focus on only the things that are important.  It is not about making a list of important things to do and then doing the right things.  It is about setting up your life and your environment so that you automatically do the things that are important.  You don’t really have the option to do other things.
Here are a couple of time saving tips.  Do not check your email and voice mail when you get to work in the morning.  Work for a couple of hours on your most important projects such as things that will provide a lot of value in the near term.
Another tip is to set aside entire days of time where your only focus is on things that create the most value and bring in the most money.  Limit the times you will check your email or voicemail to only one time during that day.
The last tip is to invest time in focused, uninterrupted blocks.  This means you should focus on one thing for extended periods of time.  Develop the ability to focus your mind for this time period by turning off the phone, by turning off the computer and anything else that might distract you.  This gives you the ability to concentrate on your one project at hand.
When you do these things, you will learn to manage yourself, not time, and to develop healthy habits and rituals, doing the right things everyday.  Just set up the things in you life which will allow you to physically, emotionally and logically accomplish your goals.  This will allow your productivity to skyrocket.
